Just Bummin' Around

Hi, I have been thinking about my blog lately and trying to decide if I should start doing daily outfit posts or something similar...what do you think?

Today is a bumming around the house and packing day so I am just wearing a tee from H&M and knit shorts from Soffe.

Sorry for the horrible picture, not too much to capture, just lazy day clothes. :)
Nail polish by Zoya mentioned in a previous post.
On another note I have taken up a new hobby, making bracelets. This is the first one I made EVER and I think it turned out pretty well, I am not very happy with the color of the tin cord but the end result is pretty.
I am not sure why the leather looks yellow, it is actually tan.
I am considering selling them on Etsy once the closures arrive so keep an eye out for them, I will also be making them in different color combos in the near future.

Anyways, nothing else going on here. Have a good day!

Latest Purchases

Hello!

It has just been a lazy weekend around here, not too much excitement but thinking about making a trip to the craft store to purchase supplies I need to try and make something I found on Pinterest.

Today I just wanted to share with you some of my newest purchases.

Both tops and shorts from H&M

The shirt and the shorts were both on sale at H&M, the top was $5 and the shorts were $7!I also bought a really cute bracelet for $1 but it broke so I am going to try and glue it. If I can fix it I will show it to you later.
Jean Jacket by DKNY (thrifted), Blazer by Jones New York (thrifted), Vest is from Kohl's

I think total for the second photo I paid around $10! That is why I love thrift store shopping, you can really find good pieces for a steal, especially for trends that may not stay in style for too long.

I also purchased a pair of Madden Girl sandals from a Department store, they look fairly similar to the ones I have linked below except mine are brown or cognac and def. not a size 11. :) (pictures when they arrive)

I hope everyone had an amazing weekend, Happy Sunday!

Hi there.

Hi Hi,

It has been awhile since my last post mainly because not much is going on here other than a recent vacation. Lately I have been obsessed with thrift store shopping, I don't know why I am so into it at the moment but I love finding super cool pieces like a few weeks ago I found an awesome Guess jean jacket for $7! On Memorial Day Goodwill had a 50 % off clothing sale and I scored a designer blazer for $7! Sadly it may have to go back, the fit is not so perfect :(

Does any one else like looking for finds at thrift stores?...I know many people do not like it and I had felt the same before( I still will not buy pants or shoes there) but there are so many good things to be found, all you have to do is wash them well in hot water.

On another note I found a super cute jewelry site today, SUPER cute stuff and good prices but I am currently waiting to hear back from them if they will ship to the US, fingers crossed!

Good Day!

High Low Skirt DIY

I saw this skirt and I knew I HAD to have one, I could not find one that I liked so I decided to make one. All you need is a thrifted long skirt, scissors, a fabric pen, an iron, and hem tap. This is super easy but can get tricky when hemming the edge, just be patient.

I am sorry I did not take photos of the whole process but it is pretty easy to explain.

1. Gather supplies and sit at a flat surface where you can lay the skirt out flat.

2. Before you sit down you want to try the skirt on and mark the length you want the front to be, make a mark right in the center of the front.

3. You will no fold the skirt. You want to fold the skirt so it is side to side, the mark you just made will be in half. Once you have folded the skirt you want to draw out your tail, start from the front mark and go straight towards the back for about 4 inches then start to taper off towards the back. (this is what will give you your high-low hem)

4. Once you get the shape you want you will cut along the line you made in the last step, cutting all the way through so you are cutting both sides at the same time.

5. now is where it gets tricky, try starting with one of the side hems and fold along the front making sure to keep the hem the same width, iron down. After you get the hem ironed in place, put in the hem tape between the folded fabric and press with iron. Continue around the skirt in this way until you are finished.

Voila, you now have a cute new skirt! Mine cost me less than $10 but if you have any of these things on hand, the cost will be less.

I love my skirt and actually plan on making a few more, I just have to find the right style skirt at the thrift store.

All done!

On the hanger.

What it looks like on.

Recently, I also made some cut off shorts. All I did was take some old jeans, cut them to length, and hem them with hem tape. I am thinking of distressing one of them but I did not have any steel wool.

Finished product one, I may distress this one.

And #2 I rolled them to give them an undone feel.
What do you think? I like the first pair but I think I cut them too short.. :(

I am considering trying a peplum skirt too, if I ca find the right kind of skirt I need to do so.

Have a lovely day.

Spring/Summer Must haves.

Sorry it has been so long, I have been busy busy. There are a lot of new styles going on right now some I love, some not so much. Does anyone have a fav?

For summer I LOVE Sam Edelman Gigi sandals, they are cute and simple. My go to every summer.

I am also in love with the 'fish tail' or high-low hem dress and skirts! I actually made one myself from a thrifted skirt that I picked up at Goodwill, it is super easy and you don't even know how to sew! I will post pictures and tutorial in my next posting.
Dress: Forever21 available HERE

One of the other trends I like is the mint green or turquoise green trend, I actually just bought Essie's Turks and Caicos nail polish and have been wearing it ever since.

Turks and Caicos available HERE

Pastels and Coral/Oranges are also a good trend this season and you can def. not go wrong with any of them.

Some products/items I am currently lusting over; Lee Stafford I hate my hair the day it's washed, a good facial primer ( I tried one for the first time and I cannot believe I have been without a primer this whole time!), and a peplum skirt that I actually plan to DIY once I find a skirt I can work with.

would like to make a peplum skirt similar to this Asos one, avail HERE

Not yet available in US :(

I hope everyone had a good Easter and Spring Break, please comment and tell me some of your fav. trends .or products that I should try out

Dermstore Hall

Okay, I have finally taken pictures of my Dermstore order that I talked about in my previous postings. I would like to start off by saying that I have found my new fav. place to buy higher end makeup and beauty products, the prices are reasonable and if you add items to your favorites list you save 10% each time you order them! Plus, shipping only takes about 3 days AND it is FREE! How awesome is that?! Like I had also said before I received a coupon from Myglam for $25 off of a $50 order at Dermstore so I decided to try them out and this is what I purchased.

Ole Henriksen Fresh Lips $15 - (description from the tube)- protects, hydrates, and plumps with sunscreen and camphor.
I would like to start out by saying that I have fallen in love with this product! I always have chapped lips an can never find a product that helps enough and this one does! I applied this product twice the day I received it and by the end of the day my lips were noticeably smoother. The consistency is creamy and it smells just a tad like menthol but not too strong, another plus is that it does not leave a nasty taste in your mouth like a lot of other products I have tried. Overall, this is my new go to lip product and I will def. be purchasing more of it. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Please excuse the chipping nail polish throughout these photos.

Lumene Blueberry Curl Mascara in Black-Brown $14-(description)-Flexible plastic brush is clump free and perfectly curls lashes, Nourishing Arctic blueberry helps to keep lashes strong and healthy.
Okay, I bought this product on a whim and have not even used it yet since I just opened a brand new tube of mascara before I purchased this one. It is a Finnish product and I am actually quite excited to try it and will let you know how it goes once I do.

Glominerals Brightener Highlight Concealer in Light $18-20-
Overall, I think that this product does its job. I have heard so many good things about Glominerals and was very excited to try this product, I think it covers fairly well and goes on flawlessly but I have to say I was disappointed with the amount of product I got for the price. this product comes in a .07 oz tube and before any product came out I had to turn it at least 20 times, I feel like half of the tube was empty. Other than that I do like this product, I have not used it on my dark circles yet but I tried it on my wrist and it seems to work well. I have very sensitive skin and have to be careful trying new products and so far I have had no trouble with Glominerals and I am considering buying there foundation as well.

Japonesque Travel size Lash comb and Brow brush combo $9
I was in need of a lash comb so I decided to give this one a try, I was surprised with it's size when it arrived, it is smaller than other combs I have seen but I don't think it is quite small enough to be considered travel size but that doesn't bother me I just throw it in my brush case. I don't have anything special to say about this product but it gets the job done and I am happy with it. It seems well made and I would probably purchase the brand again.

With my Dermstore purchase I also received two free samples, one of StriVectin-EV Get Even Brightening Serum and Elta MD Skincare UV Pure broad-spectrum sunscreen, neither of which I have tried but I am considering trying the sunscreen since it is,"sensitivity free, fragrance free, paraben free, oil free, dye free, gluten free, and noncomedogenic."

Well that is all for today, I am going to go compile a list for my must try outfits and beauty products to share with you some time this week. I hope everyone had a great weekend. :)

Love,
Heather
